The use of JOBEL, an electronic logbook designed by Gaspé lobster fishermen, will be extended to all fishing fleets in Canada.

Fisheries and Oceans, which will make the use of electronic logbooks compulsory for all types of fishing in 2025, will propose the use of the technology developed in Gaspésie.

The software has been officially qualified for distribution to all lobster fishermen in Canada, and will be available to all Canadian fisheries by March-April 2023.

The programme will cover all commercially fished fisheries, from crab to shrimp, pelagics, groundfish,  and tuna.
